iMake
A Guernsey girl shares her love of everything creative and handmade. Episodes cover a wide variety of crafts including knitting, food, photography and much more. The show also includes a generous helping of Guernsey culture too. So go on, join in - share the handmade love and celebrate the sheer joy of making stuff. Show notes can be found at www.imakegsy.com.

This episode was planned to be a short and sweet catch up, but actually, it's longer than expected! Note to self: name shows once you have finished recording them! This episode includes a good deal of knitting chat along with my plans for summer makery. There are a few listener questions, a giveaway update and I will introduce you to a lovely Guernsey-based maker. Grab a brew, some cake and a project and let's get caught up on the crafty gossip.

SHOW NOTES

Welcome (01:01)

Hello and welcome to the show. I am recording on a Tuesday as it's half term. Today's show will be a quick catch up. I hope you enjoyed the last show where Charles and I interviewed Katherine from Haut Maison Liqueurs. We have since been invited back to dinner. It was nice to meet Stephen as well as several other creative types. Welcome to new and returning listeners. If you are a new listener I should mention that I am on an ad-hoc recording schedule at the moment. Things will be more frequent over summer. I am looking forward to it! The blog and my social media platforms are still active. Find my social media links here (including Ravelry). Here's my Instagram blog post: Why I Forgive Instagram. Sewing

I cannot seem to commit time to this! Sewing with friends is the way forward... Check out Sewing with Knits on Craftsy.

Online

I am still having fun with Instagram and loving the Beautiful Mess App. I love the Beautiful Mess blog. I am not missing Flickr.

Listeners' questions (25:20)

Questions came from the iMake Facebook page. You can also leave me questions via Speak Pipe. My first question is from Sandra Hoving Engstrand and she asked about my teaching qualification. Not very crafty but I am happy to answer... I have been studying DTLLS which is a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. It's level 5 (foundation degree level) and gets me QTLS, the FE equivalent of QTS (qualified teacher status). Heidi Butterfield asked about new crafty endeavours.  Here's my summer plan:

  • Crochet (amigurumi)
  • Sewing
  • Paper/illustration
  • Video tutorials
  • Running - thanks to the Zombies, Run app! (Thanks to Jen!)
